In this time of pandemic, we have seen a substantial rise in the use of technology. Not only do we use technology in interacting with friends and family on social media platforms during this time when we have to observe health protocols and stay at home, today, technology is required of learners for educational purposes and for teachers who have alternative work arrangements who are at certains times, working from home.
Just as the Secretary of the Department of Education is passionate about the implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) in the time of COVID-19 which stipulates DepEd’s response to the challenges posed by COVID-19 in the field of basic education, Zamboanga del Norte National High School, guided by the principles contained in the BE-LCP, believes and maintains that education must continue, despite the many changes and challenges that are brought about by the pandemic.
Over the past months, technology has made it possible for us to help learners stay engaged in learning in the new normal. Our learners are digital natives who now need technology more than ever. With the adoption of the school’s Learning Distance Modality (LDM), modules and other learning materials are not only made available in printed form, but are also downloadable through our website. This has been proved helpful to learners who opt digital learning. Important announcements, updates, and communications are also accessible in this website. This initiative of the school is one of its stepping stones in becoming ISO-certified in the future, and we are grateful to everyone who took part in its creation.
As important as our desire to promote continuity of learning is our desire to teach our learners to become smart consumers of information. We are in the frontlines in teaching them how to use technology wisely and responsibly.
