To ensure that proper and fair recognition is offered to all deserving non-teaching and teaching employees, the Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) launched its first in-house award-giving body, the GAWAD HIRAYA AWARDS on December 18,2021 at Museo Dipolog, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Dr. Joselito S. Tizon, School Principal IV, along with the two (2) Assistant School Principals, Ma’am Virginia E. Tagab in Junior High School (JHS) department and Sir Jonald L. Noli in Senior High School (SHS), Ma’am Josephine M. Cuenca, Head Teacher VI/ School Award Coordinator, department heads and various working committees took the biggest challenge in prepping all essentials just to bring this first of its kind project to concrete reality.
In the video presentation, Dr. Tizon narrated the history of this GAWAD HIRAYA AWARDS, “With the brilliant erudition of our English teachers, the compelling nomenclature of this award which is “HIRAYA” rooted from the ancient Filipino word which meant ‘the fruit of one’s dreams, wishes and aspirations’ was brought to life”, he pointed out.
He also stressed out that he had a great concern and care for the teaching and non-teaching personnel who sought for promotion and being part of the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB) of the division, he always encountered teacher applicants and non- teaching applicants for promotion who were often asked if they were recipients of any outstanding employees/ teachers’ award who then proudly presented their certificate of awards issued to them by their school heads yet ended up disappointed for the HRMPSB did not appreciate the said awards because it’s not division recognized.
“The sad faces of those employees hit me so hard and made me realize to cogitate ways to prevent such heart-breaking scenarios which I do not wish to be experienced by any of my ZNNHS personnel next year. With this, we moved heaven and earth just to come up with the Gawad HIRAYA Guidelines which were crafted right after the creation of the rewards and recognition committee of the school”, he continued.
