Zambonga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) brings it to the top once more, as it bags two significant wins in the Child Protection Unit (CPU)-Sponsored Contests.

            Two students—Lourdes MaxinnePilapil of the Junior High School, and Emmanuel Jaboneta of the Senior High School,contributed honor to ZNNHS after clinching the titles on the Virtual On-the-Spot Essay Writing Category (Filipino)andon the Video Essay Contest (Filipino) this school year.     

            The aforesaid contest categories which wereparticipated by thesestudents are in line with the celebration of the National Children’s Month with the theme “New Normal naWalangIwanan: KarapatanngBawat Bata AtingTutukan.”

            On the “On-the-Spot Essay Writing Category”, Pilapilof the JHS outperforms all other competitors. The participants’ essays were judged on the basis of 50% content, 15% organization, 25 % mechanics, and 10 % title, among other factors.

            Furthermore,Jaboneta from the SHS, also came up on top on the Video Essay Competition. His submitted video essay,which is the school’s entry on the said category, wasevaluated through the following criteria: writing, that is 35%, which includesdata that is well-researched and intellectually accessible, and engaging story-telling that is solid, organized, and coherent. Another  criteria are the visual appeal of the video, which is 30%,  the sounds which include the voice over that is audible and clear, and the sound effects that effectively portray the emotions that are expected to be elicited from the audience which is15 %, the mechanics which include the presenter’s tone, voice, facial expressions and enunciations, that is 15%, and the title of the video essay that is attention grabbing and is accurate to the content, which is 5% of the total number of percentage.

            There were three contest categories launched by the Child Protection Unit (CPU): (1) a Poster Making contest for elementary in grades 4-6, (2) a Virtual On-the-Spot Essay Writing contest for students in grades 7-10,and (3) a Video Essay Contest for any participant from the senior high school of grades 11-12. The two aforementioned students of ZNNHS were among the contest entrants and were proclaimed winners on the two categories.

            The division-level winners, Emmanuel Jaboneta and Lourdes MaxinnePilapil, were mentored byManilyn E. Templo and Sheryl C. Deocadez, respectively. As the victors, they were awarded prize and Certificate of Recognition, along with the other participating contestants.

            Presently, the contenders and mentors are on their preparation to represent the Dipolog City Division forthe Regional Level Competition within this month.
